Hi! I’m Stephanie O’Donnell, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Lifestyle Eating and Performance (LEAP) Therapist. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me. I’m sure you have some important questions, like, “Who is this and why is she qualified to help me?” I promise to get to that, but first I want you to know that my intention is not only to provide you with knowledge, but also to support you. It’s not just the “what” that will get you feeling better, it’s the “how.” Everybody is different. You’re your own unique person living your own unique life, and you’re the expert on that. My approach is to consider you as a whole person. So let’s combine your expertise with mine and get you on the path to healing!
What is my expertise?
I grew up with autoimmune disease. I didn’t have one, but my mom was diagnosed with MS when I was just 7 years old, so it feels like an old friend to me. I earned my Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science and published a paper, all while donning the role of caregiver to varying degrees. It was stressful and challenging, and because of that I know the negative impact of stress and inflammation on the body firsthand. I’ve personally overcome more than 30 symptoms by using the same lifestyle changes that I use in the programs that I offer you! You can read more about my story here.
I love helping people improve their quality of life! It’s truly my passion and supports my mission in life: to end suffering (in so many more ways than one).
I’m lucky to live in what I consider paradise. My house is in the woods, at the end of a dirt road. My yard is full of wild animals, fruits and vegetables (both wild and homegrown). My neighbors on both sides are literally my family. What more could you ask for?
I share this life with my fiance, who is my rock. We’re getting married in October 2017. Stay tuned to my resources for updates on how to have an (almost) AIP wedding, and my tips on traveling!
I’m an avid yogi. You can almost always find me with my face in a book. I like to meet up with my friends for walks and hikes. Most of all, I like to relax with the people I love, no matter what the setting is!
In 2008 I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island, where I went on to complete my internship and Master’s Degree. My research is published in the The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. I became a Registered Dietitian in 2009 and have worked with people throughout the lifecycle since then. The bulk of my past experience includes working in adult clinical settings at local hospitals and home visiting for developmentally delayed and medically fragile children ages 0-3. I completed my training as a Certified LEAP Therapist in 2016 and am currently training to become an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner and an AIP Certified Coach. I’m the immediate past president and an active board member for the Rhode Island Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as an active member of the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine and Nutrition Entrepreneurs practice groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
