I like to pass along new healthy foods I find because I know how hard it can be to find quick healthy meals to serve to your family. It’s so easy to rely on pre-packaged convenience foods or fast food, but we all know that those are exactly the things that are contributing to our current obesity crisis. So, when I run across a packaged food that is healthy and tasty I like to pass it along. Today is was Mahi Mahi Burgers from Trader Joe’s.
I was skepitcal of buying frozen fish burgers because I usually make my own fish burgers, but there was only 1 ingredient – mahi mahi – and only 110 for one patty and I was alone for dinner tonight, so I didn’t want to go through all the hassle of cooking for one person. I knew I had some whole wheat burger buns in the freezer, so mahi mahi burgers from TJ’s made it into my cart. Like I said, I was skeptical, so I had a veggie burger on stand-by, just in case the mahi mahi was inedible!
Luckily, no substitute veggie burger needed. These things are great! I’ve never had a filet o’fish from McDonald’s so I can’t really compare them, but I would imagine it’s like this but with more fat and calories. I grilled them on my indoor grill pan (along with my whole wheat buns) added a squeeze of lemon, tomatoes, lettuce, salt, pepper and some real mayo (they only have 110 calories – room for REAL mayo!) and voila, dinner!
I was pleasantly surprised and delighted to have found yet another yummy, quick and healthy meal I can make in less than 10 minutes!
